Belarus, Russia agree on method of dirty oil compensation

MINSK, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- Belarus has struck a deal with Russia on the approaches and methods of compensation for the dirty oil pumped by the Druzhba pipeline in 2019, the Belarusian government said in a statement on Monday.

“Such negotiations did take place. Concerning the results: the sides have reached an agreement on the approaches and methods of compensation for the dirty oil,” it said.

Ilya Dzhus, spokesman for acting Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, said earlier that Kozak was holding a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Lyashenko on oil cooperation.

The statement also said that Russia and Belarus are in constant expert talks about a new round of oil negotiations.

The problem with the quality of oil coming from Russia to Europe across Belarus via the Druzhba pipeline appeared in April. In Belarus, the pipeline splits into two stings, of which one goes to Poland and Germany, and the other to Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary. Good-quality oil deliveries resumed in early May, but there is still dirty oil in the facility. The supplies resumes fully on July 1.
